SNSD Rank No. 1 on Oricon’s Weekly Chart for 2 Weeks Straight

Girls’ Generation (SNSD) set a new record in Japan.

After releasing its first best album in Japan titled The Best on July 23, the album ranked number one on Oricon’s daily chart for twelve days straight as well as topping the weekly chart for two weeks in a row.

This is the first time that any group from Korea ranked number one on Oricon’s weekly chart for two weeks in a row and the first time since BoA set the record with her third full length album Love & Honesty in 2004.

SNSD topped Oricon’s weekly chart with its first album Girls’ Generation in 2011 and with the third album Love & Peace in 2013, making this the third time that the girls have topped the chart, which is the highest number for any non-Japanese girl group from Asia.

This is the first time in ten and a half years since BoA set the record in 2004 with the album Love & Honesty, and the first time ever for a group from Korea.”

Meanwhile, SNSD will be performing in SMTOWN Live World Tour IV in Seoul on August 15.
