"K-Pop Beyond The Charts" is a periodic review column highlighting Korea's modern day musical innovators who have yet to find mainstream success.

Although it has yet to receive 2,000 YouTube views, South Korean performers Deep Brown and T.why have produced what is arguably the hottest track in K-pop right now with "Final Ending."

"Final Ending," uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday, is irresistibly funky, even demonstrating shades of late 1960s Isaac Hayes.

But primarily, it is R&B in the Mary J. Blige sense, meaning inviting, head-swaying R&B jams that have raps as musical as the unforgettable melodic hooks.

This is music for chilling poolside.

I'm picturing a barbeque, some friends arriving just as the sun goes down on a warm summer night. It all seems so simple with R&B grooves as solid as this.

There is practically nothing written in English about Deep Brown, T.why or "Final Ending."

The most I could find was another music video from the duo, entitled "Girl," which was uploaded to YouTube on Jan. 2.

Both music video clips were from the Korean music television network Mnet.

Yet it is abundantly clear to this reviewer that this is music as worth hearing as anything else, not just because of its quality retro vibes, but rather its newer, more distinct aspects.

On "Final Ending," the keyboards and drum breaks keep things planted in present day hip-hop while the reverb-drenched guitar riffs send the sound back to the 1960s.

Beneath it all, an acoustic guitar creates a texture that takes it someplace new.

That's right, folks, the sounds of the past, present and future all reflected-the trifecta.

Let's just hope they get some YouTube views.
